Jason Wu Fall 2011

Jason Wu continues to give us sophisticated, wearable clothes this season. All his collections are timeless, polished, and beautiful. His inspiration came from photos of restoration of Versailles, and he said that the theme of this collection is baroque meets sportswear. The palette is mainly black, white and grey, with few pieces in electric blue, red and mustard yellow. Lace and gold are the main elements in the collection. There are 15 types of lace which are woven specially in France. Those lace veils are made by Maison Michel. Other details are embroideries with Swarovski elements and his famous feather details. The runway is composed of gilded mirror which is kinda slippery (some models nearly fell down).
Sleek tailoring is still the key of this collection. Menswear-inspired blazer, coat and cigarette pants are the continuation of his pre-fall 2011 collection. I am happy that he makes them again as I can't get enough of them.
I could see Anna Wintour, Michelle Obama or other First Ladies in this shift dress. I think he's the other Oscar de la Renta, who knows how to dress women appropriately and gracefully.
Blazers, parkas and sweaters are trimmed with lace. Black embroideries can be seen everywhere, on shirt, skirts andd dress.
Arizona Muse in a heavily embellished coat with regal feel.
He also introduced Chrisian Lacroix-ish puff skirt into his collection. I love how the electric blue skirt contrasts with whimsical lace top.
Linsey Wixson in Jason Wu's trademark-feather. I'm in love with this black turned magenta feather coat (or is it a dress?). This lucky girl mentioned earlier that Jason Wu promised to make her prom dress. She is so so so lucky!
Frida Gustavsson in nude lace beaded blouse tucked inside a long flowing mermaid skirt which has the similar silhouette with one of his pre fall 2011 dress.
Joan Smalls in a gold embellished dress with crew neck, which is one of my favourite of the night.

Jason Wu's handbag line also has a timeless appeal, all with his company owl logo. I like the clean shape of the white tote on the above left. The shape of the shoulder bag on above right is reminiscence of celine box bag.
